Mrs Patmor’s Sweet Home

An antique reproduction

Nestled among roses, Mrs Patmor’s home was clearly a haven. I like to think that the anonymous antique stitcher loved Mrs P and the home she created around her. While I can’t pinpoint Mrs Patmor in time (save Downton Abbey!), I love that we can remember her, and the kind stitcher, by recreating this ever so sweet piece.

The original came to me from the UK, and the original was stitched on perforated paper. I love how it was framed: the paper is placed on top of two lengths of ribbon and simply framed. I’ve taken inspiration from this and will be trying it soon.

The antique original

My finish is a simple pin-pillow, as I wanted it to sit by me as I stitch. My model was stitched in cotton overdyes, but it would look equally lovely in DMC, which is included in the pattern. If you would like a copy, please ask your local or online needlework store. The hard-copy and PDF of the pattern will be in my Etsy store in a month or two.

I keep wondering about Mrs P and her friend, and being so grateful for the friends and kindness in my life. In these times, it’s so important to celebrate kindness and remember the good people around us – like you.
